Before the CT scan
Before entering the CT scan room, you can choose to use our state-of-the-art ambient technology to create a relaxing environment for your test. If you decide to use the ambient technology, you will select which themed images you want.
You may need to drink a contrast solution or have an IV placed in your arm, depending on your physician's orders. Depending on what test needs to be conducted, the contrast media - a special dye-like subtance that shows how blood moves through your heart - will either be run into your IV before or during the test.
You may store your belongings in our secure dressing area.
During the CT scan
You will change into an examination gown, if necessary, then lie on a table positioned in the CT scanning equipment. The technologist will ask you to keep perfectly still.
You will hear noises as the machine takes its images. You will be able to communicate with the technologist via a two-way speaker. The test may take 15 to 30 minutes to complete and is painless.
If you are a parent of a young child, you are allowed to sit with the technologist in the control room while the scan is being conducted on your child, as long as you wear proper protective clothing.
After the CT scan
After the test is complete, you are free to get dressed and leave.
Your referring physician will follow up and provide you with your test results.
